RADIO ROOTS
My ascent into commercial radio was by far an accident, albeit a happy one. Prior to ever cracking open a live microphone, I was pursuing a career in public school teaching. Unfortunately, that career was never meant for me, ultimately a blessing in disguise.
In 2015, a new low power FM radio station launched in Charleston, WV: WTSQ 88.1FM “The Status Quo.” This volunteer organized, non-profit radio station was where I initially caught “the radio bug.” With a strong foundation in local and alternative music paired with a deep focus on community, I had the privilege to be a part of building up this amazing radio station through community fund-raising, on-air work, and other behind-the-scenes production and operations.
Through such an amazing opportunity, I was lead to a part-time position as a producer for 580-WCHS at WVRC Media in 2017. Known as “The Voice of Charleston,” WCHS is the flagship news/talk station for the WV Metronews Network. I achieved full-time status there in 2019, taking on the role of Traffic Manager. Since then, I’ve earned other various positions including Assistant Promotions Director, sports color commentator, and on-air personality for 99.9FM V100 and the former New Country 107.3 WKAZ-FM.
